Anthropologie: Cork Balls

anthropologie cork balls
Anthropologie (one of my favorite stores) acts as an inspiration for creative conversation starters.

The photos seen here were taken at the Las Vegas Henderson store at The District. (You may have seen me here weekly from 2003-2006, as the 'My Gym' was next door).
I did not pester anyone this time to get the specifics on their construction tecniques as I did in the past for the rolled paper banner

This is a LOT of corks. But if you are anything like me (and I pitty your roomies if you are), then you have bags of corks (and bottle tops *ahem* VER, and jars *ahem* Dylan.....) Or perhaps you can have a small get together with your BFF and 500 bottles of wine.....just saying.

Now I'm just throwing this tutorial idea out there... I have never attempted this so I'm not making any promises.  Can you imagine paper macheing beach balls of varying sizes? Attaching a rope of some kind and hot glueing a sh*t load of corks to it?  Thoughts?

They are cool, they are architectural, they are earthy.  I like it.

And how 'bout this cute colorful mug with a little Jade plant?  Keep your eye out at thrift stores and antique stores for fun little finds like this.

  1. I'm a cork collector, and it's served me well for making wreaths as gifts. I think I'm finally going to make one for US. Unusual! The balls, eh, I'm not a fan.
